Alec Mueller is in his first season as head coach of Ashland University’s esports program, taking over in March 22, 2021. Mueller is a 2020 graduate of Ashland University and competed on the AU esports team as one of its inaugural players as part of the Fortnite team.
Alec transferred to Ashland University in 2018 from Ohio Dominican and was one of Ashland’s first scholarship athletes on the Fortnite team. He was featured in a NY Post video piece that has been viewed nearly two million times as the University was the first in the country to offer scholarships for highly-skilled Fortnite players.
Since graduating in May 2020, Mueller has served as a Fortnite coach for an online youth esports team, Uptime United, and has also overseen esports tournaments and camps through Game Arena in Hilliard, Ohio.
