With Spring's much awaited arrival, Opening Day last week and
Armstrong adding MLB Network, baseball is on the minds of a lot of people right now. And when you think of America's pastime, it is hard not to think of one of the best sports movies of all time;
Major League.
Can you believe that Major League is celebrating 25 years this year? Most baseball fans will admit to quoting the movie almost every time you watch a game. "Juuust a bit outside!" has to top the most overheard lines at any ball park around. This and many more memorable quotes all stem from the 1989 classic.
Yahoo's baseball blog,
Big League Stew, brought us a list of 15 things that you may have not known about the movie. Some of my favorites from the list include the facts that some of the actors were very athletic and pulled off the action themselves, while others needed some "assistance." This list includes wild notes, including everything from Dennis Haysbert being able to actually hit homeruns and Wesley Snipes actually making the stellar catch over the wall to Tom Berringer needing a fill-in for some of the throws and Charlie Sheen taking steroids.
But probably the most shocking is the 'alternate ending' that was actually the original ending. After reading the original plot twist, I am glad they made the change.
