Summer is nearing and that means the beginning of the big budget 'blockbuster' season. We can expect a few comic book movies, a few action adventures and countless sequels. (The Amazing Spider-Man 2 comes out this Friday and it falls into all three of those categories.) What will also be available in theaters is Hercules (2014), starring Dwayne Johnson. Sound familiar? Well, maybe because there was already a Hercules movie released earlier this year; The Legend of Hercules (2014.) This one is available on Armstrong On Demand right now. This seems like another case of two nearly identical movies coming out very close to each other. While this isn't an uncommon occurrence, one film usually ends up being much better than the other when this happens. Screen Rant took a look at the Top 10 times this happened and picked a winner in each occasion. A Bug's Life (1998) crawled way past Antz (1998) in the great bug movie war of '98. It was a close call, but Armageddon (1998) brushed past Deep Impact (1998) in the meteor movies of '98. Dante's Peak (1997) slightly edged out Volcano (1997) when these two erupted onto the screen in '97. (Seriously, what was the deal with the late 90s and copy cat movies?) More recently we had The Prestige (2006) being a bit better than The Illusionist (2006) when these period-piece magician movies disappeared appeared in 2006. The most recent showdown was when two President-centered action movies, White House Down (2013) and Olympus as Fallen (2013), hit theaters last year. Which one got your vote? Well, it looks like this style of movie making is here to stay. Let us know which Hercules adventure looks strongest to you.
