The NHL just announced last week that they plan to start using GoPro cameras on player helmets. Starting with the All-Star game just this weekend. Live footage from the player on the ice could be used in regular broadcasts. This begs the question, will this be another stunt like when they used the glowing puck technology to help TV viewers follow the action or will this become like in-car cameras that NASCAR uses which is now a staple of the coverage? I believe this could be a great way to show some replay action, especially in fights, hits and goal action. However, cutting to players helmet cams in the middle of live coverage could get confusing and even nauseating. Check out the full article here from The Verge.
