Hockey fans rejoice the beginning of the 2016-2017 NHL season - and the start of a yearlong centennial celebration of competition! Along the way, we'll see a variety of ceremonies, recognitions, observances and special events. It's slated to be a banner season - and as we mention "banner", the Pittsburgh Penguins will raise their fourth Stanley Cup championship banner on Thursday, October 13 before facing the Washington Capitals at CONSOL Energy Center.
New for this season will be the realignment and consolidation of NHL's 30 teams from six divisions into four (Atlantic, Metropolitan, Central, and Pacific). When you're an avid hockey fan, you just want to follow the sport on TV and how your team ranks with others.
Stay up-to-date with NHL Network™ and NBC Sports Network on your TV to get scores, daily features, and highlights. NHL Network™ gives access to exclusive programming, games, and special events. If you don't yet have it in your TV channel lineup, it's simple to shop online and add Extra Pack to your television package for $4.00/month - it adds other sport networks as well!
Fans enjoy the sport on their large screen TV, however when you have no access to a television when you're at the office or traveling, you can get on a connected device and access the NBC Sports app. This app aligned with NBC Sports Network online provides full replays of games aired on NBC and live games every Sunday afternoon.
