DVDs. Piles of DVDs. That is what exists within the cabinets of our various entertainment centers, coffee tables and bookshelves. Most of these are for the kids. Parents of young children understand that having a vast library of DVDs is important for maintaining sanity in a household (even though kids will end up watching the same ones 20 times in a row.)
Trial and Error
How many of those DVDs actually get watched more than once? Half? A third at best? On Demand to me is a great place to test out a new kids movie. The family can watch it as many times as you want in a day or two-day period. If it is a hit, you can pick up the DVD and the kids can enjoy it until it is worn out. If it is a dud, you've saved yourself some money. Some movies, like
the Muppets, you just know you want to have anyways.
Personally, I am planning on getting HOP (available today!) On Demand first... you know, just in case.
Not again!
A lot of On Demand programming is actually free. Not surprising, children's programing is the most popular within our On Demand selection. Between programming from Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Disney, Hub and others; to hit movies available at no additional charge from our premium channels, there are hours and hours of great kids and family programming. (*On Demand programming from premium channels like HBO and Starz is available with your paid subscription.)
Your kids can watch these programs and movies over and over... and over and over... as much as they would like. (Rio and Yo Gabba Gabba seem to be on non-stop at our house lately.) Having the ability to click a few buttons and maintain a chaos-free living room for a few minutes is priceless.
