These days everyone is a photographer. Anyone with an expensive camera and free Saturday afternoons is now able to take and charge for "professional photography." We have all seen these attempts from family and friends on Facebook. The site Youarenotaphotographer.com calls these folks "fauxtographers." photographerI am actually fortunate enough to have some great photographer friends who started out taking pictures as a hobby, which is why I don't think it is entirely a bad thing. The more technology and equipment that becomes available to the casual photographer (you and I), the better. Some people prefer a nice quality camera to take family photos with. Some prefer the point-and-shoot for good candid shots. Like me, a larger portion of photo buffs prefer to use their iPhones or other smartphones to record their precious moments. As the saying goes "the best camera you have is the one you have with you." Regardless of how you take pictures, I want to know how you store your pictures? While some people still enjoy printing pictures to share with family, a lot of people have switched to simply sharing the photos online. From sharing pictures on social networks like Facebook and Twitter, or using photo-centric social networks like Flickr or Instagram, photo sharing is huge. You can quickly edit your photo, add a filter and maybe some text and you magically have a shareable masterpiece.

Social networks are a great place to start, but you wouldn't want to share every picture you took on your phone or camera. (However, Facebook and Google+ do have options to backup your mobile photos without sharing them.) I have used a combination of Google+ for my iPhone pictures, Box.com and Dropbox.com for pre-phone point-and-shoot photos and double backing up important photos on Flickr. However, I recently discovered Everpix.com as a great way to collectively back up pictures from all types of sources, including your Mac or PC, iOS device and Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, Instagram and more. With neat features like the ability to create shareable Photo Pages that can you hand select, a Flashback feature that shows you past pictures from today's date and more. With a free and paid subscription option, you will need to figure out if you're casual or "professional" when it comes to this service. Check out Everpix.com and get your photo backup started today!
