Most people have at least heard of streaming video, if not enjoyed it themselves. Between services like Netflix and programmers offering On Demand and live content via computers, devices and gaming consoles, a lot of homes are used to streaming video. Even more homes are used to streaming now thanks to the 2014 Winter Olympics, because men's hockey just helped set a new record for live streaming views. Thanks to the midday hockey semi-final game between US and Canada, 2.12 million unique users streamed a live event. This is great news for sports fans with a new interest in thevacation sport of hockey, but also for viewers new to the streaming of live TV.
