In today's world, everyone is always on their phone instead of paying attention to their surroundings. Technology has grown so much that not having the convenience of the internet at your fingertips is almost unbearable. After meeting at the 30 Week Program by Google, Joe Hollier and Kaiwei Tang, created the Light Company, and started building the opposite of every other phone - The Light Phone. Only the size of a credit card, this thin and light phone can last up to 20 days on a single charge and double as a flashlight, but does nothing else besides make and answer telephone calls. Just slide in a SIM card, press a few buttons, and make your call. Costing $100, it comes with 500 minutes of pre-paid talk time and charges via USB. "The ultimate goal of this project is to limit how much people are on their phones," Hollier said. However, the biggest challenge for this company is their competition. With multiple different retailers and service providers offering $20 pre-paid phones, the Light Phone will be in the running to take over the anti-smartphone trend.
