Escaping from the war in London, a group of children under the care of two women arrive at the Eel Marsh house. Not knowing what had happened 40 years earlier, they awaken the spirit of Jeannette Humfrye, played by Leanne Best. Using the help of a fellow soldier, the women and children must fend off the spirit and end her presence once and for all.
