techRecent statistics have shown that smartphone and tablet ownership continues to rise. Not a shocking statistic, right? 55 percent of Americans own a smartphone and 36 percent own a tablet. More and more people are using these convenient "mobile devices" every day. A recent PC Mag article recently shared its list of "10 Must-Have iPhone Apps" which had me thinking: what apps could I not live with out. Better yet: what 10 apps could I not live without? The article lists a few to-do apps, some note-taking and password keeping apps and staples like Google Maps, Google Search and WebMD. Taking out the stock apps that Apple provides with the iOS software, what 10 apps do I need to "survive?" As I talk about a lot, I try to stay "paper-free" and do so by using my iPhone to keep track of almost everything. So, app number one would be Evernote and app number two would be Checkbook HD. These two keep me paper-free and are must-have apps for me. As far as productivity goes, I use Any.DO for my tasks and reminders. This app keeps me organized and even reminds me to get organized each morning. Another duplicate from the PC Mag article is Google Search. Not only does this app have you a click away from great search results, it has Google Now cards (personalized need-to-know information, always updated and ready for you to view), quick access to Gmail, Google Calendar and other Google apps. Facebook and Twitter apps keep me connected to my friends, family and breaking news. Gotta have those. Yahoo recently introduced a beautiful and functional weather app, Yahoo Weather, that is my go-to source for temperatures, forecasts and radar maps. ESPN Scorecenter is a wonderful, full featured app, but I mainly use it to send me score updates and finals from my favorite teams. Spotify music service gives me instant access to almost any song I can think of and with a paid subscription I have access to all of that on my iPhone. That leaves a spot for one final "must-have" app. While I am not a big "gamer" I do like to have a few games on my phone to help me pass the time, if needed. Right now that go-to game is Dots. Dots is an addictive "connect the dots" puzzle game that my whole family enjoys playing. Well, there it is. My 10 must have apps. What are yours?   And of course an "App Honorable Mention" has to go to The Armstrong app.
