Fall shows are premiering
and new shows are already getting renewed for second seasons. One thing that networks look at to determine if the show is going to be a hit this early in the season is social media. You might hear it referred to as "second screen" activity; which is actually just your smartphone, tablet or laptop.
Many people are taking to Facebook and Twitter to discuss their favorite show or sporting event with friends. This activity is even more prominent with television events like awards shows, beauty pageants or major sporting events like the Olympics, World Cup or Super Bowl. With social media users using "hashtags" that help you follow event specific tweets and updates, you can see what others are saying about a show or event.
If you aren't someone who watches live television and watch it on demand or on your DVR, you might not want to see any "spoilers." Do you use social media while you watch TV? What types of events and shows do you like to talk about?
