Entering the Olympics holding the world-record title for the 400, 800, and 1,500 meter freestyles, Katie Ledecky had one goal - to beat her past time.

On Sunday night, she did just that. Winning the gold medal for the 400 meter freestyle swim, she cut off nearly two seconds from her world record time. With this being her second medal in two days, there are surely more to come.

She will also be swimming in the 200 and  800 meter freestyles. If she wins these two races, Katie will become the first female Olympian to win three gold medals in a single Olympics.

USA Men's team also won gold in their 400 meter freestyle relay. Led by Michael Phelps, the team has medaled in every relay event in every Olympics that they have completed. Completing his fastest relay split ever in his career, Phelps said he was happy that he is starting out his final Olympics with gold.
