This Veterans Day, Armstrong’s Healing Heroes initiative is celebrating 5 years of pairing veterans with service dogs, and we’re just getting started!

On November 11, 2016, Armstrong first announced its mission to collect and match enough funds to pair five veterans with service dogs. As of 2021, eight veterans living in and around communities where Armstrong provides service have received a highly-trained dog that allows them to live a more independent life. Partnering with the dedicated team at Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs, the Healing Heroes initiative has surpassed its original goal and thanks in part to your generous donations, the initiative is currently able to help pair an additional seven veterans with a four-legged companion.

Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs can make an incredible difference in the lives of those struggling with a variety of disorders including: PTSD, traumatic brain injury, seizure disorders, mobility issues and more. Meet some of the local recipients featured on our website, of a Guardian Angels service dog, who were paired through Armstrong’s Healing Heroes program.

Armstrong encourages veterans who are in need of the life-changing assistance a medical service dog can provide, to complete the application for a Guardian Angels service dog. Veterans who live within a county serviced by Armstrong are eligible to apply for a service dog and do not need to be an Armstrong customer.
