Now with Plume® Motion included in your Enhanced Wi-Fi, you can turn your Wi-Fi devices into motion sensors. When enabled, the Plume Motion technology notifies you when there is detected motion in your home.
Receive notifications when family members leave and return to the home such as your children going to and from school or your spouse going to and from work. Also, use as added security to receive an alert if there’s unexpected motion in your home while you’re away such as a break-in.
How does it work? Plume Motion detects the disturbances in Wi-Fi signals between your Pods or between a Pod and a motion capable device. These disturbances in the signal are translated into Motion events, which you can use to keep yourself aware of activity in your home.
To enable Plume Motion, tap the “Motion” option on the home screen of your Plume app. Then turn “Motion Detection” on to start initializing. After initialization, the system will enter a passive state to learn the baseline of your home. It will detect motion between Pods and begin enabling devices as sensors 10 minutes later.
Each member of your household can have a primary device assigned to their profile (for example, a smart phone). The primary device’s connections and disconnections from the network determines if they show as being at home. To set up a primary device, follow these steps:
- Tap the People icon at the bottom middle of the home screen and choose a person
- Ensure the device is already assigned to that person
- Tap on “Select Primary Device” and choose a device from the list
Go to “Motion Settings” on your app to enable “Smart Activation.” Here you can automatically arm or disarm the home when people leave and return. Under settings you can also choose to disable devices if you do not want them to be used as motion sensors.
Rest assured, your privacy will not be compromised with Plume Motion. The features are opt-in only by you. Our employees cannot see the motion in your home and the technology analyzes data with the sole purpose of improving your experience and providing online protection.
